Cardiologist & Heart Rhythm Specialist
GMC 7021164
I am a Consultant Cardiologist based at the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital (LHCH), one of the largest and highest volume specialist cardiac centres in the UK. I also treat patients privately in the Rowan Suite and Spire hospitals in Liverpool & Manchester. I primarily care for patients with heart rhythm disorders, undertaking all forms of ablation procedures (including Atrial Fibrillation, flutter, SVT, WPW, Ventricular Ectopy and Ventricular Tachycardia) and implanting pacemaker/defibrillators.
Patients have requested to see me (in-person or virtual video) from the North-West of England, North Wales, the Ise of Man & across the UK. My colleagues have awarded me 3 local clinical excellence awards based on high level performance. I have been twice awarded IWantGreatCare certificates of excellence for consistently outstanding patient feedback.
I graduated in medicine from University College London, with Distinctions in all phases of medical school. I trained in Cardiology in the London North West Thames deanery and subspecialised in heart rhythm management at the prestigious Hammersmith/St Mary’s Hospitals, where I achieved full certification as a specialist in cardiac electrophysiology (ECES) and cardiac devices (ECDS) by the European Heart Rhythm Association.
I have an international reputation as an expert in Atrial Fibrillation and complex arrythmia ablation (AT & VT). I have a PhD (Imperial College London) and several first/senior author publications studying advanced 3D mapping and ablation techniques and was sole recipient of the prestigious Heart Rhythm Society 2019 “Eric Prystowsky Fellow Clinical Researcher Award” for the highest scoring abstract involving this research. I am chief investigator for a multicentre UK randomised trial exploring optimal ablation strategies in patients with atrial flutter. I am regularly invited to speak at international meetings and organise the advanced ablation programme for the “British Heart Rhythm Society” Annual Symposium.
I am a keen educator. I have been faculty for the “Arrythmia Alliance” and “A-Fib Association” national Patient education days, speaking to small and large patient groups. I am the founder of www.cardiowebinar.com, which offers a programme of ~100 free webinars mapped to the cardiology curriculum. The program was a finalist in the 2023 Health Service Journal Partnership award as the “best educational programme in the NHS”.
I live in South Liverpool with my wife and children. I have a passion for cycling, undertaking the 55-mile London-Brighton ride for the British Heart Foundation. I love all things football (especially the Reds) and volunteered as a youth coach for my son & daughters’ team.
Thanks for reading my profile, and I look forward to seeing you.
