Cardiologist & Heart Rhythm Specialist
GMC 7021164

I am a Consultant Cardiologist based at the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital (LHCH), one of the largest and highest volume specialist cardiac centres in the UK. I primarily care for patients with heart rhythm disorders, undertaking all forms of ablation procedures (including Atrial Fibrillation, flutter, SVT, WPW, Ventricular Ectopy and Ventricular Tachycardia) and implanting pacemaker/defibrillators. After my first 3 years in practice, I have been awarded 2 local clinical excellence awards, and a national IWantGreatCare certificate of excellence.

I graduated in medicine from University College London, with Distinctions in all phases of medical school. I trained in Cardiology in the London North West Thames deanery, and subspecialised in heart rhythm management at the prestigious Hammersmith/St Mary’s Hospitals, where I achieved full certification as a specialist in cardiac electrophysiology (ECES) and cardiac devices (ECDS) by the European Heart Rhythm Association.

I have an international reputation as an expert in complex arrythmia ablation. I have a PhD (Imperial College London) and several first/senior author publications studying advanced 3D mapping techniques in myocardial scar and was recipient of the prestigious Heart Rhythm Society 2019 “Eric Prystowsky Fellow Clinical Researcher Award” for the highest scoring abstract involving this research. I am chief investigator for a multicentre UK randomised trial exploring optimal ablation strategies in patients with atrial scar. I am regularly invited to speak nationally on complex ablation and organised the advanced VT ablation programme for the 2023 “British Heart Rhythm Society” Annual Symposium”.

I am a keen educator. I have been faculty for the “Arrythmia Alliance” and “A-Fib Association” national Patient education days (since 2018), annually speaking to small and large patient groups. I am the founder of www.cardiowebinar.com, which offers a programme of ~100 free webinars mapped to the cardiology curriculum. The program was a finalist in the 2023 Health Service Journal Partnership award as the “best educational programme in the NHS”.

I am the associate Chief Clinical Information Officer at LHCH, driving the trusts digital aspirations to improve cardiology care. I have led the trusts integration with “EPRO digital dictation”, “Explain My Procedure”, and “CARTONET.”
I currently live in South Liverpool with my wife and children. It is close enough for me to cycle every day to work which helps me stay fit. I love all things football, and volunteer as a youth coach for my son’s team twice a week all year round.
